Meet Sassy and Zak

Posted on February 26, 2010 at 12:18 PM

26.02.10 SASSY UPDATE - Information received from the rescue that Sassys lump was benign and she has the all clear from the vets!  :D

Sassy and Zak are owner relinquishments that were in need for some major TLC.  Their disabled owner was unable to care for them properly to such an extent that Sassy has a mammary growth the size of a tennis ball, along with some irritating sores on one of her legs.

Sassy and Zak have not been out of the home for at least 5 years and as a result they are not house trained, their owner lets them toilet within the home.

An email appeal tonight by us, to all the rescues we know and trust has resulted in rescue placements being secured for both Sassy and Zak.  A big thank you to the rescue concerned....you are the true doggy angels!

And not forgetting our own David Bailey........thanks Angie!

And on a final note Zak would like to leave his trademark.......:D

Sassy and Zak were successfully transported to their rescue yesterday 14th Feb, despite the history of these two, they travelled well with no problems at all.

A big thank you to Angie for driving over 10 hours to ensure they get their second chance.

Look out for updates from the rescue shortly

From the rescue:

I'm pleased to say that Sassy has been through her operation, and is resting at the vets over night. She has had quite a lot done.....chest x-rays, her leg x-rayed, her lump removed, her nails clipped, a scale and polish and 4 rotten teeth removed (at no extra cost from the vets. Thank you Jonathon at Moorview.) A sample from the lump is being sent away for analysis, but her chest x-rays showed up clear for any masses in her lungs.

Apart from being a little stressed last night, possibly the first night she has ever spent away from Zak, she has been fine and won the hearts of everyone at Moorview Vets.

Zak meanwhile has clearly missed his girl, but I have to say he has been VERY clean in his kennel. Maybe now the fact he can get out to the toilet is a major factor in this positive find.
