A very friendly little girl, a little on the thin side. Was happy to be touched all over. She made funny snorting noises when being walked as she slightly pulled on her collar. Seemed fine with other dogs but wasn’t tested with the resident cat.

A sweetheart, easy to walk, very friendly. Seemed fine with other dogs, took no notice of them. She didn’t try to herd the ducks and other birds and could be touched all over.

On Friday 22nd May, a lady reported finding a dog in Quarry Bank to ourselves, kennels and local authority. She was under the impression that all a stray dogs were put to sleep at the end of their waiting days. It was explained that this was NOT the case. The finder requested to keep the dog for one day as she had placed adverts locally and she stated that she was going on holiday on 24th May so couldnt keep the dog anyhow. She agreed to call in the wardens in to collect on 23rd May. On Saturday 23rd we were emailed the details of missing Missy, we were able to match her to the found dog report. We contacted the finder, and emailed a photograph of Missy to her, she agreed the dog she had found was Missy, but...............she no longer had the dog, she had handed her over to a rescue. We advised the finder, that she had actually broken the law by not placing the dog into the stray system. She assured us that she would arrange for Missy to be returned to her owner. We put the owner in direct contact with the finder.
Little did we realise the problems that followed............by 7pm on on 23rd May, Missys owner was still waiting for her to be returned. We made contact with the finder again, the finder assured us that the delay was not intentional. It was then that we were finally given the details of the rescue that had taken in Missy. We made several attempts to contact this rescue but it was constantly on answerphone. It was Sunday afternoon before we actually spoke to the owner of the rescue......who were immediately on the defensive. We were told that they did not know the whereabouts of Missy. It was claimed that they had agreed to take her in, but she had never arrived. By this time, the finder had already left for her holiday and was not answering her phone.
Missys owner Julie was absolutely heartbroken, not knowing if she would ever see Missy again. We asked Julie to be patient and that we would do our very best to locate her, but could not do much until after the bank holiday. Julie and her family continued to try and contact the finder and the rescue but no joy.
On Tuesday morning, the team from K9 Search UK went to work contacting all vets as we had been told that Missy had been checked over on Saturday morning. We could not find any trace of her. We also spoke to Dudley council, they were angered by what had happened. In the afternoon Dudley council contacted the finder, she was told in no uncertain terms that Missy would have to be returned to her owner. Within half an hour of that call, Julie received a call from a kennels in Shrewsbury........they had Missy! It was a bit of a coincidence too that these kennels were all but 10 miles from the rescue that claimed to know nothing.
What Julie and her family had to endure over that 5 day period was not acceptable, it was totally unnecessary!
Armchair rescuers, who needs them - we dont!

Brindle with white on chest, staffie, male approx 2-3 years found on Lechlade Rd, Great Barr at 8.35pm 08.01.09 along with SOOH0472 Vera
17.02.09 Lovely laid back staffy who is easy to get in and out of kennels, not bothered by other dogs and very easy to walk. Likes his food.
23.02.09 - Very friendly does not appear to have problems with other dogs, could be touched all over. Pulled slightly on lead but soon corrected himself.

Another friendly little staffie boy. He is very affectionate and sits nicely for treats. Daz has met two female dogs whilst out on walks and has been ok with them, he just wanted to play! He is great on the lead and just trots beside you.
He was rehomed by kennels but later returned
16.04.09 - Daz came out for a walk with Jessie the collie cross and he is a playful little lad - he kept bowing and wanting to play with her. He walks nice and calmly on the lead too.

Brindle, female, staffie approx 3-4 years, found on Lechlade Rd, Great Barr at 8.35pm on 08.01.09 along with SOOH0473 Jack.
17.02.09 Another friendly lovely staffie, found with Jack, very pleasant and happy, another that is easy to walk, although pulls more than Jack. Does pull towards other dogs, but in a non aggressive way

Unfortunately he was the one that finished me off for the day. He was supposed to be ok with a slip lead but he got sooo excited when other dogs were around that he was difficult to control. He pulled when he walked normally. At the end of the field he suddenly jumped up and grabbed the other lead that I had attached to the slip one and pulled and twirled like a dervish. There was no response at all to commands to leave and I more or less had to drag him back up the field with him still pulling, jumping up to get a better grip, leaving me with little lead to hold him and still twirling round. I was absolutely shattered when I got back and one of the staff had to put him away for me. I was later told that he walked well on pavements but had done a similar thing on the field with other walkers.
31.03.09 - took him out with ZAK. although ZAK was persisitant to try and hump him, none of them growled, and DILLON wasnt phased at all, he was fixiated on my pocket with the treats in haha. they walked lovely together. Dillon was so obedient and took treats gently

Another absolutely heart-wrenchingly friendly girl, wanted to cuddle everyone. She also walked well on the lead and ignored other dogs, definitely a people little person. She actually got walked three times today as she looked so appealing in the kennel that none of us could ignore her. She’s got us well trained.
Update 19.03.09 Salsa has been returned as she didnt like the resident cats.

Been with finder for a week before calling in the warden.
01.04.09 - A very nice stable dog, very easy to walk and doesnt pull at all, can be touched all over. Has no problem with other dogs, and is very popular down the kennels. Extremely suprised he hasn't been snapped up yet.

13.02.09 - Very very pleasant staffie, who is a dream to walk, and very well behaved, very calm in the kennels, and doesnt seem to be stressed by anything. Other dogs only hold a passing interest to him, can be touched all over.
15.02.09 - He is very affectionate and greets everyone in a friendly manner. He has been ok with other dogs he has met whilst out on walks (Hutch & Tike).
